TEACHER

Helena is an educator interested in dance, movement and nature. She facilitates the following classes:

Creative movement for babies (8-14 months) and toddlers (15-24 months)

In these sessions, children explore a variety of objects and movements under the teacher’s guidance, developing coordination, balance, fine motor skills, and fostering creativity, innovation, and a love for exploration.

For parents, the sessions provide an opportunity to gain new insights into their child’s behaviour, perception of the world, and self-expression. Before children learn to speak, they use movement to express their desires, emotions, and preferences.

Weekly classes:

Upside-down family classes

A family session designed for children aged 2+ and their mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, grandmothers, grandfathers, nannies or other adults in their lives.

The goal of the session is to provide a shared play space for the child and their adult, where the usual hierarchy is turned upside down—the little one leads the play, and the adult follows their lead.

Upside-down Creative Play Class is like a curated chaos: an intense quality time experience that strengthens the bond and understanding between the child and their adult.

For the child, the session offers a chance to practice decision-making and leading the play.

This activity encourages the child’s creativity and innovation, boosts their confidence and self-awareness, and gives them the freedom to lead and make decisions during play.

For adults, the session provides an opportunity to set aside everyday worries and fully focus on being present with their child. It creates the freedom to dive into play wholeheartedly without needing to plan or lead the activity. In turn, this awakens the playfulness and courage to play that lies within all of us. The idea that play is only for children is simply not true!

Weekly classes on Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm in Sareyyet Ramallah (link here)

Outdoor nature club for toddlers (1,5-3y) and preschoolers (3-5y)

An outdoor nature exploration class that takes place in a garden that offers wilderness and safety for its young participants.

Each 2h class offers structured exploration of nature’s elements (soil, plants, insects, weather etc.), invitations for unstructured (messy and muddy) free play, art projects with natural materials and ideas for parents for their own nature explorations.

Each session finishes with a beverage circle, that the children have helped to create (herbal tea, orange juice, warm milk with honey etc).

The nature club draws its ideas and inspiration from Forest Schools and Outdoor Kindergartens that are becoming growingly popular all over the world, in a logic response to our alarmingly increasing indoor-life.

Getting children outside makes them more active, encourages creativity, increases focus and creates a personal relationship with the outdoors and nature (which, in turn, will make them care more for nature). Being exposed to natural materials and textures, while getting a bit dirty, is also an amazing sensory experience.
